What can my staff see and do, versus an admin?
Everyone who signs in to your org can see the calendar, clients, and appointments the same way. A smaller set of things is admin-only, and one thing (a staff member's own schedule and profile) is self-service once you've connected them to their own login.
Turning a team member into "staff"
By default, anyone you invite through Settings → Team can do everything an admin can. To make someone a restricted "staff" member instead, link them to their own staff record from that staff member's page: the User Association card there is where you connect a Clerk login to a specific person on your team. Until you do that, they're treated as an admin.
Nothing changes until you link someone
If you never use the linking step, every team member keeps full access, exactly like before this feature existed. Restriction only starts the moment you link a specific person to their staff record.
What a linked staff member can do
- View the calendar, clients, appointments, and staff list, the same as an admin.
- Edit their own profile details (name, contact info, notes, calendar color) and their own working hours (see Staff & availability).
What stays admin-only, even for their own record
- Marking themselves (or anyone) active/inactive.
- Creating a new staff member, or deactivating/removing one.
- Connecting or disconnecting a login to a staff record.
- Editing a colleague's profile details or schedule.
- Inviting or removing team members (Settings → Team).
- Viewing or changing the subscription plan.
- Setting up or test-sending marketing campaigns.
